The tour of NHF

Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. has announced that Nissin Heartful Friend Co., Ltd. (NHF), a subsidiary established in September 2015, was designated as a special subsidiary company to promote the employment of people with disabilities by the Kyoto Nishijin Public Employment Security Office on March 1.
On March 3, a certificate ceremony and a tour of NHF were held at Nissin Electric head office and works.

At the ceremony, Mr. Seiji Okumura, Director of the Kyoto Nishijin Public Employment Security Office, presented a certificate to Hideaki Obata, President of Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. and to Masahide Nobu, President of NHF.

Nissin Electric company group will promote the employment of people with disabilities as part of its contribution to society, following the government’s basic employment policies for people with disabilities.

Efficient power savings by means of various analysis tools
~ Nissin Electric starts selling energy management systems ~

On July 1, Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. began marketing energy management systems on a full-scale basis, whose usefulness has been demonstrated in Smart Power Supply Systems (SPSS®) built on the company’s premises. The systems are fully equipped with data management functions useful in running statistical analyses on electricity use in factories and buildings, thereby contributing to implementing energy conservation and power saving measures.

1. Background
Since 2011, our company has been engaged in the development and verification of photovoltaic system, visualization of how much power is consumed in factories and office buildings, and battery energy storage system by means of SPSS intended for the saving and stable supply of electricity built on our head office premises. At our Maebashi Works, we built an actual-scale verification system composed of photovoltaic system, cogeneration systems, battery energy storage system, energy management systems, and a substation facility condition monitoring system, on an enlarged scale, with demonstration work starting in March 2014.
In efforts to achieve the first stage of verifying energy management systems, our company has recently completed development of a product capable of provoking attention to the necessity of energy conservation and power savings by means of a variety of functions such as different analysis tools and monitors.

2.Product overview
The energy management system is offered as a dedicated Web server in the form of a system combined with the existing central monitoring and control system FACTMATE®. The energy management system uses FACTMATE as well as the existing infrastructure such as general-purpose data gathering devices and on- premises LAN to gather vast amounts of data on energy use inside an electricity user’s facilities and then manage the data under one umbrella, offering various energy analysis tools and monitoring functions on the Web to be used in implementing energy conservation and power saving measures.

Contributing to the industrial world with a quick, low-cost coating technology
~ New arc coating machine developed ~

Our company, Nippon ITF Inc., a subsidiary of Nissin Electric Co., Ltd., has developed a new type of coating machine used for coating surfaces of automotive parts, tools and metal molds. This new machine can form a thin film in a shorter time at a lower cost than our previous model, enabling the production volume to double (in our company’s comparison, in monthly drill coating equivalent). The machine is currently being tested in our company and will be on the market in October 2014.

1.What is the arc coating machine?
Among several PVD (physical vapor deposition) methods, in which a metal is melted in a vacuum to form a thin film, our new machine adopts an arc discharge method, in which arc discharge is mainly used for vaporizing and depositing the metal. This type of film formation is characterized by fast deposition and high adhesion between the film and substrate (the target material to be coated), and suitable for surface treatment of cutting tools (e.g. drills, end mills, and inserts), gear cutting tools (e.g. hobs and pinion cutters), and metal molds. If treated with this coating, these products will have higher surface smoothness, high-temperature durability and wear resistance, which contribute to a significant improvement in the products’ life and performance.

2.Features of the new coating machine
(1) Reduction of the cost of the cathode material by 75%
The cathodic arc evaporation source is enlarged 2.5 times in diameter. The position of the arc spot, where the arc discharge occurs, is controlled by a magnetic field to create uniform erosion. These improvements contribute to extending the material life 4.5 times. As a result, the cost of the cathode material has been reduced by 75%. (All figures mentioned above are ratios to those of our previous model.)
(2) Reduction of cycle time by 50%
The inside of the vacuum chamber and the exhaust pipe routing to the vacuum pump have been optimized to double the effective pumping speed. In addition, the capacity of the substrate heater has been increased 1.8 times. These modifications enable this machine to exhaust gas impurities in a shorter time, reducing the total cycle time by 50%. (This is an example of TiN coating and all figures mentioned above are ratios to those of our previous model.)
(3) Improvement of the work environment by collecting dust in a booth when unloading the substrate
With our previous machine, the dust generated when the vacuum chamber was opened degraded the entire work environment in the machine room. However, by installing a booth to enclose the door for unloading the substrate and collecting the dust in the booth, the factory environment can be improved. Nippon ITF Inc. is the first company to install such a booth in a coating machine.

Our company aims not only to expand its market share in Japan, but also to sell the machine in China, Southeast Asia and India, where automotive industries are growing. Sales of this machine are expected to be ¥400 million in fiscal 2015.

Launch of a 500 kW outdoor power conditioner for mega solar power generation system —All-in-one advanced technology—

To meet the growing demand for mega solar power plants in the fast- expanding solar power market, Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. has developed a 500 kW outdoor power conditioner, “SOLARPACK 500,” for mega solar power generation system.

Nissin Electric released it on November 11, 2013 and delivery will be from April 2014.

Shelter (storage cabinet with air-conditioner) is unnecessary because our power conditioner is outdoor type.
Easy to transport and install, and contributing to environmental load reduction.

2.Energy-saving operation with the first hybrid cooling system in Japan
Energy-saving operation is realized in this system by combining cooling with air conditioning for the sensitive parts such as control board, and forced ventilation with fresh air for other parts efficiently.
For salt-damaged area, we can provide a cooling system using air conditioning for all parts.

Nissin Electric has over 30 years of experience in developing power system equipment, starting from power conditioners developed in the 1980s to today’s large-scale power conditioners and mega-solar power generation systems that are compatible with the feed-in tariff system.

Nissin Electric meets customer demand with its original power conditioners based on grid connection technology, power conversion technology and total system engineering—including substation equipment.

Reducing the costs of grid connection of natural energy power plants
—Launch of a grid connection facility to supply power with PVT —

Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. has developed a power supply system that uses the Power Voltage Transformer (PVT) system (a transformer system for power supply using voltage transformer technology) for grid connection facilities that connect natural energy power stations and electric power companies. The system was released on November 1, 2013. Replacing transformers used in traditional systems to supply electricity with this PVT system reduces costs by about 20%. With growing expectations for the development of natural energy power generation including wind power, this technology can contribute to the promotion of such power generation in the future.

Developing “bridging human resources” for globalization!
Launch of the Overseas Short-term Trainees System

Aiming to develop global leaders by allowing its young and mid-level employees to develop more overseas experience, Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. in August 2013 launched the “Overseas Short-term Trainees System,” a program that is intended to absorb different commercial practices and cultures through 3- to 6-month training at overseas corporations in our Group.

With its overseas business rapidly expanding, our Group aims at a foreign sales ratio achieving 50% of total sales in fiscal 2015 through “VISION 2015,” its medium- to long-term business plan. To implement measures toward that plan, we have established globalization of our Japanese employees as one of our tasks.

Currently 43% of our Group’s total employees work overseas. To further promote interactions between our overseas bases and the Head Office, we have established this system as a mechanism to allow our Japanese employees to acquire overseas operational experience away from their daily operations and to experience local commercial practices, climates and cultures that are often quite different from those in Japan.

We aim to strengthen cooperation throughout the Group by developing “bridging human resources” who can contribute to solving problems in their recipient organizations.

Nissin Develops World’s First 1,000kV SF6 Gas Insulated Voltage Transformer in China

In partnership with NEW (Nissin Electric Wuxi Co., Ltd.), a Chinese subsidiary fully owned by Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. (NISSIN), NISSIN has succeeded in developing a SF6 Gas Voltage Transformer (GVT) for 1,000kV SF6 Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). NISSIN has taken this occasion to build an additional plant at NEW specifically for 800kV and 1,000kV GVT production. This new plant will begin operation in October, 2010. NISSIN expects that by 2013, NEW's sales will increase from a current JPY 2.3 billion to a total of JPY 3.0 billion.

The 1,000kV GVT was developed at the request and with the full support of the State Grid Corporation of China. Although China's large power stations are located in the inland (western) areas of the country, the major power-consuming areas are concentrated in China's coastal (eastern) areas. Construction of 1,000kV transmission systems is being pushed as a means of effectively delivering electricity from the western to the eastern areas.

Since its establishment in 2002, NEW has supplied 66- 800kV GVTs to major Chinese GIS manufacturers and now boasts the largest GVT market share in China.

Establishment of Nissin Advanced Coating Indo Co., Ltd

Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. established Nissin Advanced Coating Indo Co., Ltd.(called ACI) jointly with Sumi Motherson Group as a service company of advanced thin film coating services using multi-arc PVD systems in Noida, India in October, 2007 and the launch ceremony was held at the new company and a hotel in Delhi, India on August 8, 2008. This ACI is the 6th advanced coating service company in the overseas countires.

India has been growing at an annual rate of more than 8%, particularly in the field of IT and automobile industry.
Advanced coating service will become one of the most important technologies while India is growing as "Manufacturing superpower". This new venture is expected to play a big role in leading to the development of future business in India and devote itself to contribute to its society and building-up of the new firm's business.
