Gas insulated switchgears (GISs) are installed as substation equipment and receiving equipment for safe and stable supply of electricity. Circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing devices, etc. are enclosed and stored in metal containers using a high-insulation-performance gas. Thus, the equipment is very compact, reliable, and safe.

Features

We have endeavored to improve the performance and pursued compactness, reliability, and economy since the commencement of development in 1968. To meet various needs, the product lineup ranges from 24 kV to 168 kV products, including the XAE7 (one of the most compact in the world) and the GF7 (smaller than conventional compact GIS). Notably, our market share in the 72/84 kV class is among the top in Japan.

    The size and weight have been reduced significantly by using new small and lightweight arc-extinguishing gas circuit breakers and by integrating components while maintaining the characteristics of conventional 72/84 kV GIS. The unit volume and weight have been reduced by 41% and 50%, respectively. In the conventional product, the operator had to step on the inspection stand for on-site operations. The new product enables operations directly at the floor. Maintainability has also been improved further.

    The gas insulated switchgear is based on the 72/84 kV gas insulated switchgear concept. Analysis techniques were used to attain the optimal bus arrangement that does not impair the insulation performance but helps reduce the equipment dimensions and to integrate the bus. The weight and installation area have been significantly reduced compared to conventional same voltage three-phase encapsulated type GIS. The construction period has been reduced, and maintainability has been improved.
  • 72/84 kV Ultra-compact Gas Insulated Switchgear "XAE7"
    The size of the circuit breakers has been reduced dramatically by using our proprietary arc-extinguishing AE (Auto-Expansion) technology. The XAE7 is one of the smallest in the world in the 72/84 kV class by using integration technology (e.g., integration of the transformer unit and power receiving unit, double stacking of gas circuit breakers [GCBs]). The installation area is about 40%* smaller than GIS for standard two-line power receiving equipment.

    24 kV Compact Gas Insulated Switchgear "XAE2V"

    The XAE2G features circuit breakers whose size has been reduced dramatically by using AE (auto-expansion) technology (as in the case of the XAE7). The GIS size has been reduced significantly by using rotary type three-position disconnectors/earthing switches. The installation area has been reduced by 90%* compared to air-insulated switchgear and 60%* compared to conventional GIS (compared to GIS for standard two-line power receiving equipment). The lineup also includes a dry air type (XAE2V) that uses vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs).
