Instrument Transformer

Instrument transformers are installed as devices to convert to easy-to-handle low voltages and currents so that measurement, control, and protection devices can be connected to power grids.

Features

Instrument transformers must ensure high performance and high reliability because they are used to conduct measurements and protect circuits. Our instrument transformers consist of oil-insulated and gas-insulated voltage transformers and current transformers. We supply high-performance, high-quality products in and outside Japan by harnessing its proprietary power capacitor technology, insulating oil hermetic sealing technology (completely hermetically sealed type using a feeding tank (FT)), and SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride) gas insulation technology, which has been refined over many years.

Capacitor Voltage Transformers (CVTs)

The coupling capacitor (CC) incorporates power capacitor technology, which is our proprietary technology, and an FT. It ensures high insulation reliability and maintainability over the long term. We are the only manufacturer of capacitor voltage transformers in Japan, offering a lineup from 23kV to 550kV.
Nissin Electric also delivers CVTs of the 1,100kV class, which is the world’s highest voltage, in China.

SF6 gas-insulated voltage transformers (Gas-VTs)

Gas-VTs are characterized by compactness and excellent reliability and safety by housing a voltage transformer in a metal container and sealing with SF6 gas, which is characterized by high insulation performance.
Gas-VTs are used for our gas insulated switchgear (GIS) and employed by many GIS manufacturers in Japan and overseas. As in the case of CVTs, we developed the world’s first 1,100kV-class gas-VT and delivered products to China.

SF6 gas-insulated power voltage transformers (PVTs)

PVTs refer to voltage transformers that apply technology to convert high voltage to low voltage for measurement and protection to utilize converted electricity as a power source.

PVTs are used as on-site power sources at high voltage substations and as microsubstations (substations capable of converting to low voltage from high voltage transmission lines for power distribution) for non-electrified areas.
